Microblading is also referred to as eyebrow embroidery, feather touch and micro stroking.  Microblading originated in Asia over 25 years ago and became popular in the United States in 2015. I personally love my new brows done by the microblading teahnique.

So, lets dive into what exactly is microblading, who will benefit and how long does it last.

What is microblading? First, Microblading is a form of semi-permanent makeup.  It has the ability to   create beautiful eyebrows with a hand held micro-blade.  The ink is plant based and contains no heavy metals.  Technically, microblading is a form of eyebrow tattooing.  However, traditional tattooing uses a machine and microblade artists use a hand held micro-blade.  This allows the artist to apply hair strokes and create a fine line resembling real hair.  Each individual hair stroke is hand drawn by the artist.  Therefore, taking the eye shape, skin tones etc. is very important for artist.   The result is gorgeous lifelike 3D eyebrows.

Who will benefit? The perfect candidate could include someone who has over plucked, wanting to define, or darken and reshape their eyebrows.  Your artist will give you a health questionnaire to see if you are a candidate medically as well.

How long does it last? Typically microblading lasts about a year with most clients.  Microblading typically take two appointment visits .  First appointment the client profile is done.  The eyebrows are drawn on so the artist and client agree on the look.  The shade of the ink will also be determined.  The artist will then microblade the eyebrows and the client is ready to go back into the world. There is some minor scabbing and after care required.  All in all, you should be completely healed in about 4 weeks.

Next, your second appointment is a touch up at least 6-8 weeks after the first session.  This allows enough time for the ink in the epidermis to naturally slough off.  The color will then settle into your skin.  The touch up appointment allows the artist to see how your skin received the ink.  The artist can make any necessary corrections.
