Your appearance is important to you and your hair is a big part of that. Whether it’s because of relocation or needing a new  hair stylist, here are a few things to consider.

1. Referrals
The first thing to do in your search for a new hair stylist is get referrals from people who have hair you love. That might be friends or family members or it might mean stopping a stranger on the street to ask who she sees.

2. Look for Someone Who Has a Style You Like
Look online or visit a salon and find a hair stylist who has the same color and/or cut that you are looking for. He or she will be able to style your hair like theirs, or set you up with whoever did theirs.

3. Communication
Communication and listening skills are key when it comes to a hair stylist and customer relationship. Bring along 3-4 pictures of the look you’re going for on that visit.  However,  if you bring too many pictures things may start to get confusing for the both of you.  Next, be sure to describe exactly what you like about each picture. Also,  if there is something in the photo that you don’t like don’t hesitate to say something. Knowing what you don’t like is just as important as knowing what style you are looking for.

4. Location
Think about how often you get your hair done. If you go in once every few months for a touch up, driving some distance might not be so bad. If you go in frequently, you will want to try and find a stylist who has a convenient location close to your home or workplace so you have easy access when you need a trim or style.

Finding the right hair stylist can take time and you may have to test a few options before you find the right match. Once you find a wonderful hair stylist, you will be glad you put in the effort to finding the right fit.
